More than just a personal trainer!

Elisa has helped me see new ways I can include fitness in my everyday activities, and she has given me techniques to make cooking and good nutrition choices easy. She really is a great personal fitness and nutrition coach! It is a joy to work with Elisa. She encourages, motivates and inspires me by creating fitness routines tailored to my abilities, schedule and preferences, and by her unique way of teaching me about healthier nutrition choices that have improved my well-being, helped me to lose weight and to feel more joyful. Like most women, I have been pretty knowledgeable about what foods are healthy and what are not, but Elisa gears her nutrition coaching to my particular tastes, needs and lifestyle so I can make choices that really work for me. My workout is tuned to me!

With Elisa, the workout is so tuned to what my body can do and needs and is never ever boring. Every workout, whether it's outside by the Bay, under the trees in Mill Valley or at my house, is always different, yet consistent. I have never been consistent in any exercise program until three years ago when I began taking personal training sessions in Mill Valley with Elisa. I have also never lost and maintained my weight until I began working with Elisa. Truly, I am one of those who join every gym and never continue. With Elisa, the workout is so tuned to what my body can do and needs and is never ever boring. Elisa brings with her the professional background of a physical therapist and the attitude of a caring friend. She helps make my life work. I have been working out with Elisa for almost 4 years. I am 51 years old, feel young, hate working out, know I have to and I am overweight. I also failed to mention I have had Crohn's disease for 25 years so some days I just feel really ill. That is the only time I actually miss working out. So as an exercise hater I have been working out, amazingly happily, with Elisa. I feel great thanks to Elisa!

My posture has improved tremendously as well as the way I feel and look overall ...for sure much younger than I really am. I also enjoy the fact that Elisa has exposed me to so many new fascinating places in nature. And, through our conversations we share information; so this is not just working out but it's also about learning ... we laugh a lot. Since I started working out with Elisa almost 4 years ago I have come to learn the secret spots of San Francisco and Marin County which I never knew existed ... various parks, hiking trails, Dipsea Stairs and beaches and with all the above the little extra that comes with them ~ the beautiful sunsets and full moons and the still waters of the bay... and in so many times when the early Saturday mornings I would rather stay in to sleep in but I pull myself out and head to Tiburon to see the water, the feel the crispy air, and I look towards the Mt. The other beauty of working out with Elisa is that those days when your body is really not feeling 100% ie ...nagging migraine headache or just a low energy day .... she will always have tricks that she pulls out from her "various programs" that will make you feel so much better than you did getting to your session … I have come to learn not to miss the workouts those days as much as you would like to but to share with Elisa what your body is telling you ... if your body is really in a need of help you can always negotiate to get a massage instead of putting those extra pounds on your angles. I also enjoy the fact that Elisa has exposed me to so many new things by taking me to places. And, through our conversations we share information; so this is not just working out but it's also about learning ... we laugh a lot.

Elisa adapts to my changing needs and so much more...

She was adamant in helping me find the time to exercise by flexibly accommodating my schedule and conveniently meeting at my location. In addition, to minimize my time while maximizing my progress, she created challenging yet achievable activities to serve dual purposes (such as doing squats for legs while lifting dumbbells). Also unlike many trainers, Elisa really actively listened and learned about me. She used that knowledge to design a program that related to my interests and goals such as targeting muscle groups and building endurance for hiking, one of my favorite hobbies. She kept my training lively with varied and interesting activities such as climbing hills in the park, and walking on the beach at sunrise. She also challenged me to try new activities such as water aerobics, Qi Gong, physioball, and spinning. Another part of Elisa's variety strategy is to maintain fitness throughout the day, rather than just in a specialized workout session. For example, she repeatedly encouraged me to enjoy the outdoor stairs near my office or take brief walks around the block. Furthermore, when my life changed from taking night classes to weekend classes, she redesigned my program to meet my new schedule and location. Elisa has the unique ability to focus on short term efforts while keeping an eye on long term goals. She often calls me on the phone to check in with me to keep my goals in sight, review fitness activities for the day, inquire about my weight, discuss personal concerns that may be impeding my outlook or progress, and develop strategies to combat immediate and longer term challenges such as holidays dinners, travel, or work. Her constant supporting presence has made all the difference for me, because I (like many of us) have good intentions and general knowledge of what to do, but let excuses and other demands get in the way of maintaining my health. In her calls she challenges me yet makes every interaction fun and motivating. Her strong will and powerful belief that positive change can happen is infectious. When I found out I was pregnant, Elisa designed an individual program of prenatal exercise for me that was ideal. Following her program, I prepared my body for the marathon of childbirth with safe but effective workouts, and I'm sure that contributed to my smooth delivery and quick recovery. I also took a postnatal class with Elisa and was amazed at how quickly I got back into shape. My friends were astounded. The classes were hard work but totally exhilarating and lots of fun - I looked forward to them every week. As a 39-year-old woman going through childbirth, I thought my previously flat stomach would be gone forever, but within a few months I was wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes again (even my bikini), without doing any heavy aerobics. Best of all, Elisa let us bring our babies to the class whenever we needed to (though frankly I got a much better workout when I could find childcare for that hour!) and she'd help us figure out how to get some exercise anyway. Elisa is a very professional, well-trained, fun and compassionate person and I only wish she offered exercise classes for those of us who are no longer either in the prenatal or postnatal phases of our lives.

Pre- and Postnatal Exercises helped me build up strength...

Elisa's prenatal and postnatal exercise classes were great! I was pregnant with my second child when I started, and the prenatal class not only left me feeling relaxed and refreshed, but also helped firm up muscles that had been weakened during my first pregnancy! The postnatal classes were a wonderful way to help build my strength, get back in shape, and meet other moms. Elisa's classes were calm, peaceful, and inviting. She consistently tailors her classes to meet the specific concerns of her students. I definitely recommend her classes.

Prenatal Class was so helpful...

I am very happy to recommend Elisa's prenatal exercise classes to any pregnant woman. It certainly helped me a lot. I was carrying a particularly heavy baby as we later discovered (he weighed in at 9lb 5 oz) and thanks to the prenatal movement and aquatics classes I took with Elisa I was able to work right up to the last day of my pregnancy.

Stellar, reasonable and very relaxing massage...

Elisa, it is with pleasure that I have an opportunity to let others know what a joy it is to have you come to my place and give me a massage. Not only are you extremely professional, but you always tailor your work to whatever my body is needing at that particular time. You are careful to make me comfortable while doing your work, and I appreciate your flexibility and creativity in working out the "kinks".  I had thought that having you come to my home might be more expensive, but it is not. As you explained, not having to pay rent for a studio, you are able to keep your prices very competitive and reasonable. While being massaged, I can play my own favorite relaxation tapes, and once you are done working on my body, I can simply crawl into my soft, warm bed and just go to sleep. You are a treasure, Elisa, and I am grateful for your expertise and loving hands-on work.
